The Dual Cab Electrics pictured in your home page, were owned by myself,
until purchased from me by several members of CALS for the club when I
moved to Wis.
The Engines were scratch built. They were started by Pappy Johnson of the
Golden Gate Live Steamers and purchased and finished by myself Richard
(Dick) Hein. I moved the engines to the East Coast in 1980, before CALS had
a track. We used to run at Bruce Hamilton's track. I was one of the early
members of CALS, Built track with DOC Kinzer, Leo Chism and many others at
Bruce's place.
Original paint job on the electrics was Royal Blue. Date of building was
1978, took about 8 months of on and off work. They were sort of modeled
after some engines that originally ran in the Richmond CA. area.
I ran the engines at several tracks in CA. , Bruce's track, Jacks track at
Dover DL.,also at the Blue Ridge Live Steam Track when it was located at the Museum
in Roanoke VA. before their flood.
Seeing them in your web site brought back a lot of fond memories.
Dick Hein
